Vhembe District Municipality was affected by thunderstorm on the 16 April 2020.
20 households roof tops under Thulamela Local Municipality were blown away and the mortuary was burnt down by lightning, under Musina Local Municipality 17 households were also affected.
In Madombidzha under Makhado Local Municipality house windows were damaged by hailstones.
The assessment is still continuing in the affected areas to get an exact number of affected households.
Roads and electrical lines were also damaged.
Vhembe District Municipality together with affected Local Municipalities and the Department of Social Development, ESKOM, SASSA, SAPS are busy working very hard to assist affected families.
We further request NGO's and other various stakeholders to assist affected families as we are also under lockdown.
